COAST & COUNTRY HELPS MAKE COMMUNITIES A BETTER PLACE TO LIVE
Coast & Country Housing has released information showing how it is helping make its communities a pleasanter place to live.
The demonstration of how it cracks down on anti-social behaviour comes during Not In My Neighbourhood Week.
During the last three months Coast & Country has taken the following legal action:
• Possession order obtained against a tenant in Guisborough in respect of an offence of possession of class C drugs with intent to supply. The Possesion Order was postponed on condition there were no further breaches of the tenancy agreement for 12 months. No further problems have emerged to date.
• Possession order obtained against a tenant in Redcar in connection with noise nuisance. The order was postponed on condition there are no further breaches of the tenancy agreement for 12 months. No further problems to date.
• Demotion order obtained against a tenant in Guisborough because of noise nuisance. No further problems to date. A demotion order is where there has been anti-social behaviour, but the landlord does not wish to evict outright.
• Injunction obtained against a tenant in Eston who bypassed his electricity meter causing serious risk to themselves and neighbours.
• Injunction obtained against a tenant in Saltburn because of the condition of their garden. Further action is in the pipeline as there has been no improvement.
Not in My Neighbourhood Week is all about highlighting the day to day work being done by various agencies to tackle crime and anti-social behaviour.
Coast & Country’s tenancy enforcement team, along with district office staff, alongside the police and other agencies, will be out an about during the week focusing on diversionary, prevention and enforcement activities.
Iain Sim, Coast & Country Chief executive, said: “Coast & Country’s remit is not only about providing a roof over people’s head but also making our communities a pleasant place to live.
“Anti- social behaviour, from noisy neighbours to vandalism, can blight a community and make the lives of those living there a misery.
“Coast & Country staff are continually working to identify those causing a nuisance and will take the appropriate action to put a stop to this type of conduct.
“Not in My Neighbourhood Week helps highlight the sterling efforts being made by our staff in this respect.”
