Pupils "Travel" Through Time at Housing Conference.
Coast & Country has helped youngsters "travel" through time Dr Who style.
Pupils from Year 5 at South Bank Community Primary School were asked to come up with ideas on how housing will look in years to come as part of the Company's Annual Property Maintenance and Investment Conference. The purpose of the conference was to engage tenants and involve them in the ongoing improvements to the service to help Coast & Country develop the way its maintenance service will be delivered in the future. It also gave tenants the opportunity to give feedback on its current investment programme and views on the planning of programme for future years.
Improvements during the last 12 months include a repairs appointment system, mobile working technology and a new fleet of vehicles.
The pupils designed posters illustrating a 'House of the Future' and discussed their ideas in a video booth designed as the Tardis.
Iain Sim, Chief Executive, said: "The Dr Who TV series is a massive hit and we thought using a Tardis would help spark the pupils' imaginations. The idea came about as it travels through time and one of the messages we wanted to convey was that Coast & Country is moving forward".
"Some of the children discussed recycling and being energy efficient by having solar panels and windmills in the garden as well as the use of robots. It was good to see that so many of them were aware of the environment."
The day was a huge success and the ideas from the day will help to shape improvements to the service in the future.
