Coast & Country Supports Sri Lankan Trip
Coast & Country is supporting pupils from an Eston School
who are going to help poverty-stricken children at a school in
Sri Lanka.
Later this month (July 27) 18 pupils, aged 15 and 16, along with
headteacher Jim Rogers and assistant head Pauline Franklin are
going to the country’s capital, Colombo.
They will be helping youngsters there to learn English through
interactive activities and photographic equipment which they will
be taking out with them.
This will include games involving matching colours and producing
pictures of the Sri Lankan pupils so they can create storyboards.
The Eston Park teenagers also will be rolling up their sleeves
to assist with the maintenance of the school building by painting
some of the rooms.
Coast & Country has given £500 to Eston Park to help
them fund the 17-day trip.
Iain Sim, Chief Executive, said: “The pupils at Eston Park
deserve all the support they can get for this commendable trip
and Coast & Country is delighted to provide help with funding the
trip.
“I am sure the trip will be a life-changing experience as
they will be visiting a community very different to their own where
people live in plastic tents and there are standpipes instead of
running water.
“Most young people, at this time of year, are thinking of
putting their feet up for a long summer holiday. By choosing
to help people less fortunate than themselves, the Eston Park students
are a shining example.”
Eston Park assistant headteacher Pauline Franklin said: “We
are very grateful to Coast & Country for providing support
to help fund the trip which will be a fantastic learning experience
for our students.”
